Craven District Council has an important role to play in protecting and enhancing our environment now and for generations to come.
Craven District Council demonstrated its commitment to tackling climate change when it signed the The Local Government Associations Climate Local Initiative. We will address the challenge of climate change in the following ways.
We will lead by example by taking action to reduce the Council's carbon footprint and by reducing CO2 emissions from Council owned properties. We have produced a Climate Change Business Plan 2013-2016 [2Mb] which sets out measures we will take to reduce our impacts.
Craven District Council is working in partnership with the Yorkshire Energy Partnership to offer you free, impartial and expert advice on a wide range of energy efficient and renewable measures. The team advise on how to save energy in the home, provide information on effective alternatives such as renewable sources, and offer advice on grants you maybe eligible for.
Everyday we all contribute to the amount of carbon dioxide that is released into the environment. Everyday actions such as swapping the car for walking if short trips, turning off electrical appliances not leaving them on standby, turning lights off when you leave a room and buying local food all make a difference and reduce our impact on the environment.
