There's a wide variety of cycle events taking place in Craven District, across all cycling disciplines.

Yorkshire Housing Skipton Cycle Races

cycling cycloclross racing Cyclocross races

Craven is host to the world famous 3 Peaks Cyclocross Race, which takes place on the last Sunday in September. The race starts and finishes in Helwith Bridge, just north of Settle and goes clockwise over Ingleborough, Whernside and then Pen-y-Ghent.  The 51st race was Rob Jebbs 10th win.  Entries open on 1st of June and the 600 places sell out quickly.

A round of the Yorkshure Cyclocross will be held in Aireville Park on 6th September 2015 - more details soon. 

cycling racing tt Time trials

  • Circuit of Ingleborough in mid March is 23 miles and organised by Pendle Forest Cycle Club.
  • From April to August there are two local Time Trial evening leagues, mostly 10 mile.
  • The Kildwick 10 is run by Bronty Wheelers  and is on every Wednesday evening at either 7 or 7.30pm.  It goes from Kildwick to Skipton and back along the A650.
  • The Skipton 10 is run by Pendle Forest Cycle Club and is on every other Thursday evening at 7pm.  It goes from Thornton in Craven to Skipton and back along the A59.

Skipton Reliability Ride

March 2015, with 30 and 60 mile rides, starting at Carleton Village Hall.  We hope this will be staged again in 2016.

cycling MTb Mountain bike events

Craven College organise the Malham Tarn Track Attack which usually takes place at the end of April each year.

The Malham Show Trailquest is part of the Malham Show on the August Bank Holiday Saturday.  It offers either a 2 hour or a 4 hour mountain bike orienteering score event.

cycle racing Sportive events

These are mass participation challenge rides on the public highway.  The list below covers most of the key events that either start in Craven or have most of the ride in Craven District.

Sunday 15th February is the Otley Reliability Ride, starts in the Market Square at 9am and goes all the way to Kettlewell and back.  £15 for adults £7.50 for under 16's

Last Sunday in March (29th) is the Nidderdale Sportive.  It starts in Dacre near Summerbridge, Nidderdale and both the 55 and 85mile ride come over into Craven. Starting between 8 and 9am £25 entry.

3rd Saturday in April (18th)  is the West Riding Classic / Rough Rider Sportive.  It starts in Clapham with 3 routes around the Yorkshire Dales of 33, 60 & 75 mile.  £25 entry fee.

On Sunday 3rd May is the Tour de Yorkshire Ride, a new sportive associated with the inaugural Tour de Yorkshire.  The sportive will take place on the same day and roads as the 3rd and final stage of the Tour de Yorkshire - Sunday, 3 May, which includes Craven. The route will also take in some of the Tour de France 2014 route through Yorkshire.  For more information see our Tour de Yorkshire 2016 in Craven web page.

3rd Sunday in May(17th) is the Etape Du Dales Sportive It starts at Wharfedale Rugby Club in Threshfield, nr Grassington.  The 112 mile route takes in much of the Yorkshire Dales, including 3600meters of climbing.  Start between 6am and 9am Entry fee £49 Entries open (January) and it sells out.

On Saturday 23rd May is the Richmond 5 Dales.  60, 85, and 118 miles. £20.  Entries now open.

Petit 2016

On 5th June, 2016, there is Le Petit Depart with a 38 mile recreational ride and 80 mile sportive.

Sunday 14th June is the Three Peaks Classic.  Two routes, 95km and 124km.  £28

Sunday 28th June is the White-Rose-Classic Sportive  It starts in Ilkley with 3 routes of 50, 84 & 114 miles, most of which is in Craven.  Entry fee of £30.

Sunday 4th July is the Etape du Yorkshire. From Harewood House over the Grand Depart Day 1 route.  £35 for the full route and £30 for the shortened route.

On 11th July is the Open Wheel - Yorkshire 101.  146km.  £36

Sunday 30th August is the Hoy One Hundred Sportive.  It starts in Skipton and has two routes of 50 & 100miles.  Start between 7.30 and 9.30am. Entry fee of £35.

And in November is the Columba Chemo Classic, a 63 mile course from Richmond.
