No person may keep a boarding establishment for animals without first obtaining a licence from their Local Authority.
Licence - Pet Shop
No person may keep a pet shop unless they have first obtained a licence from their Local Authority.
Licence - Dangerous Animals
No person may keep any dangerous wild animal without first obtaining a licence from their local authority.
No person may keep a breeding establishment without first obtaining a licence from their Local Authority.
The Dog warden service will help you if you lose your dog, and aims to help prevent stray dogs from being a danger in traffic or a nuisance to people.
Within the council, animal control is a high profile service, providing not only the control of stray dogs, but also many other aspects regarding Animal Welfare.
Craven District Council has a duty under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 section 149 to collect and detain stray dogs.
This service deals with the registration of dogs, the tag system and what to do if your dog is missing.
Licence - Riding Establishment
Licences to keep a riding establishment are issued under the Riding Establishments Acts 1964 and 1970.
Zoos are regulated by the Council under the Zoo Licensing Act 1981.
Whenever sheep or goats are moved from one location to another the relevant authority must be notified. Notification must be issued to the relevant local authority on form AML1.
Importation of Animals
Whenever pigs are moved from one location to another the relevant authority must be notified. Notification should be to local authority on form AML2.
