Pest control

Craven District Council provides a pest control treatment service for both domestic and business complaints considered to be a risk to public health or food safety including rats, mice, cockroaches, fleas and bedbugs.

Pest control treatment services can be arranged by telephoning during normal working hours. Alternatively you can contact us by email or via the electronic form - Apply for Pest Control Services

Officers call by prior appointment and apply safe and effective treatments. If for any reason the problem persists they will return and make every effort to ensure the pest is eradicated.

We don't treat bats, bees, ants, pigeons, squirrels or wasps but we have provided information about these potential pests on our web pages.  Information about different pests can be found on the links below.


Pest Control Charges 2012/13

Domestic Properties -  treatment of insects and rodents is £60 per treatment  (including VAT)

Commercial Properties - treatment of insects, mice and rats is £155.00 per visit (including VAT)

Payment is required prior to treatment.

There is a reduction for domestic treatment to a flat fee of £36 for those receiving the following benefits:

  • Income Support
  • Income Support job seekers allowance
  • Guaranteed Pensions Credit
  • Housing Benefit
  • A means tested Council Tax benefit

If you claim a reduced fee treatment we will need to verify that you qualify for the reduced fee.  If you qualify you will be asked to pay the flat fee of £36 prior to treatment, if you do not qualify you will need to pay the full amount of £60 prior to treatment.
