Time to renew garden waste subscriptions
Craven District Council is reminding all households who subscribe to the garden waste collection service to renew their subscriptions.
In order to continue to receive the fortnightly collection service residents need to renew their annual garden waste subscription by March 5, 2017.
Current subscribers have been sent a letter with their renewal reference number and instructions on how to subscribe for the 2017/18 period.
The annual charge will be £29.50 per licence per bin, which will cover the period up until March 31, 2018. Residents can sign up to the scheme at any time, but subscriptions must be made no later than March 5, 2017, to ensure licences are distributed in time for the first collection in early April.
Lead Member for Greener Craven, Councillor Carl Lis, said: "The garden waste service we provide has been very successful. People in Craven do have a commitment to recycling their garden waste and this is a very convenient service for them.
"We have introduced a small increase to the price this year, from £26 to £29.50, in order to help cover the cost of the service. However it is still good value compared with other local authorities. We thank our current subscribers for their custom and hope they will continue to use the service."
New residents are also being encouraged to subscribe to the service, which provides a brown 240 litre wheeled bin, which is emptied every two weeks from March to November.
The current garden waste collections will shortly resume again after the winter break, from February 27 for Week One collections and from March 6 for Week Two collections.
