Children can take part in the Big Draw event, create their own animations and enjoy the thrills and spills of Monstersaurus, a fantastic new theatre show.

Danielle Daglan, Programming & Venue Development Manager at Craven District Council, said: "There's lots going on at Skipton Town Hall during the October half-term holiday to keep children and their parents entertained. We're delighted to welcome back the Big Draw project and give children the chance to work with a world-class animator, and we're really looking forward to the new theatre show Monstersaurus, which should be a big hit.

"So if you're looking for something to do during half-term, why not come along to Skipton Town Hall and enjoy some creative fun!"

The popular Big Draw event is taking place again at the Town Hall this year, with a free session on Saturday October 21, from 11am to 12 noon when families can help create a huge masterpiece for Craven Gallery and a YouTube animation.

The theme of this year's national Big Draw event is Living Lines - an Animated Big Draw. Master animator Virpi Kettu, whose previous work includes Wallace & Gromit and the Burn the Witch music video for Radiohead, will be helping to create fantastic animations.

The free event on Saturday will be followed up with three Halloween Animation Magic workshops, on Wednesday October 25, Thursday October 26 and Friday October 27, from 11am to 12 noon. These workshops will be £1.50 per person, per session. Children will get the chance to create animated creatures and help them to fly through the night sky on Wednesday, crawl through the cemetery on Thursday and around a haunted house on Friday.

Monstersaurus, an energetic theatre show full of thrills, spills, magic and mayhem, is sure to delight the whole family at the Town Hall on Thursday October 26.

The brand new show from the Big Wooden Horse Theatre Company, creators of Aliens Love Underpants, will have two performances timed to suit families with younger and older children, at 11.30am and at 2pm. The show features original music and plenty of audience participation - costume and fancy dress is actively encouraged!

Follow the young inventor Monty as he creates a whole world of wacky inventions and incredible monsters, but he has a problem - now he has made them all, what is he going to do with them? Monstersaurus tickets are £10 for adults and £8 for children.

For the adults, there will be a special Museums at Night event on Friday October 27, from 6pm to 8pm, with the chance to get behind the scenes, talk to the museum team about their personal favourite objects and enjoy a leisurely private view of the current exhibition with a glass of wine. Tickets are £5, including wine and nibbles.
