Customer announcement: Active North Yorkshire
Active North Yorkshire is the new name for our leisure provision and will be launched on 1 September.
Active North Yorkshire is the new name for our leisure provision and will be launched on 1 September when the Selby and Tadcaster leisure centres move in-house. Zest, Craven, Brimhams Active and Richmondshire will also move across over the coming months, and the centres in the former Ryedale and Scarborough districts will join in 2027.
The move is the first stage of North Yorkshire Council’s plan to bring all its leisure services in-house., including over 20 leisure centres and swimming pools. The Active North Yorkshire service will be focused on supporting everyone in the community to be active, with an increased focus on improving physical and mental health.
Under Active North Yorkshire our leisure centres will become active well-being hubs. Customers can still access all their current activities, but there will be additional targeted activities for example to support people managing long term health conditions. There will also be more locally-based activities and services and increased support for community-based sport.
We aim to keep service disruption to a minimum, your membership and the activities and services available at your local centre will continue as usual. We will be keeping you updated regularly too.
