Craven District Council’s buildings start to reopen

Craven District Council’s Customer Services Reception has reopened on weekday mornings, while Craven Leisure has started offering outdoor fitness classes.

The Skipton High Street car park toilets have also reopened, and the gym toilets at Craven Leisure are available for use.

The children’s playground at Aireville Park is due to reopen from July 4, in line with new Government guidelines.

Councillor Richard Foster, Leader of Craven District Council, said: “Our staff have worked extremely hard over the last few months to keep council services running.

“I’m really pleased that we are now able to open more of our buildings to the public in line with Government guidance. The safety of our residents and staff is paramount and we would urge people to follow the signage and instructions around our buildings to keep everyone safe. I’d like to thank residents for their patience during these challenging times.”

The Customer Services Reception at Belle Vue Square, Broughton Road, Skipton, is now open from 9am to 1pm, Monday to Friday, with a one-way system in operation and a maximum of three people allowed within the reception area at any one time.

The Licensing Team will hold drop-in appointments on Wednesday and Friday mornings, while the Revenues and Benefits team are seeing customers on an appointment-only basis, and Housing Options are holding essential appointments only.

Craven Leisure have started holding a selected number of fitness classes outdoors in Aireville Park and in the multi-use games area.

Current fitness members can access one free class per week as well as access to all the Craven Leisure online class workouts on YouTube and Facebook.

Classes will have a limited number of five spaces to adhere to all the latest government guidelines. Activities are open to current members and casual customers. Activities must be booked online prior to arrival, at www.cravendc.gov.uk/craven-leisure/book-activities-online/

Social distancing measures will be in place throughout the session. Sessions may be cancelled in the event of very poor weather conditions at the discretion of the instructor on the day. Currently, no changing facilities, lockers or showers will be available.

However, the Craven Leisure gym toilets are now open to the public, between 9.30am and 4.30pm Mondays to Fridays, and between 10am to 4pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Disabled and baby changing facilities are also available.

Access to the toilets is via the café, with clear signage and a one-in, one-out policy which will be monitored by a receptionist. Hand sanitiser will be available on entry.

The Revive Café in Craven Leisure has been open for takeaway drinks and ice-cream since Monday June 8.

The café, in Aireville Park, Skipton, is serving a range of coffees, teas, cold drinks, milkshakes and ice-creams, with no seating areas available, in line with current Government guidance.
