Tour de Yorkshire 2018 whizzes through Craven
The Tour de Yorkshire swept through Craven on a gloriously sunny day on Sunday May 6.
Thousands of people turned out to watch the exciting race as the world-class cyclists passed through Sutton-in-Craven, Cross Hills, Skipton, Embsay, Eastby, Barden, Burnsall, Threshfield, Kilnsey and Kettlewell, and up Cote de Park Rash into Richmondshire.
Councillor Richard Foster, leader of Craven District Council, said: “Craven did itself proud once again as the Tour de Yorkshire passed through. Our towns and villages looked spectacular and the event drew thousands of people to our beautiful district, which was great for our local businesses.
"This was also another opportunity for us to showcase our area to the world, as images of our countryside were beamed to audiences around the globe. Many thanks to all the organisers, marshalls, tour-makers and spectators, who helped to make this a truly memorable occasion.”
