Boost for electric vehicle users in Craven
Motorists with electric vehicles will have more places to charge their batteries next year.
Craven District Council is pleased to announce it has been successful in its latest grant application to The Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV).
It has won new funding which means 12 more fast charging points will be installed across the district.
The Council applied to the OZEV for 75% of funding costs to supply three Electric Vehicle Fast Charge Points (EVCP) in four village car parks.
The grant awarded was £146,736.82 with the Council funding a further £48,912.21 to make the project possible.
The new charging points are planned at the following locations:
-
North Street Car Park, Gargrave,
-
Milligans Field Car Park, Crosshills,
-
Grasmere Drive Car Park, Bentham
-
The Community Centre Car Park at Ingleton.
The installations should be completed in March 2022.
The proposed charging points are part of the Council’s strategy to encourage electric vehicle use as part of its plans to be carbon neutral.
The Council already has charging points at the High Street car park in Skipton town centre and the installation of three points at Ashfield car park in Settle is underway.
It is hoped to eventually have electric vehicle charging points in all council car parks by the end of 2022.
