Museums at Night – see behind the scenes as Craven Museum moves house
Craven Museum in Skipton Town Hall is taking part in Museums at Night on Friday October 26 – giving visitors the chance to see behind the scenes.
Museum staff are currently packing, tracking and storing nearly 60,000 objects in preparation for the full redevelopment of the building.
Visitors are invited to come along to sessions, from 6pm to 7pm, and 7pm to 8pm, to discover the trials and tribulations of moving thousands of objects, ranging from hippo skulls to magic lanterns.
Danielle Daglan, Programming & Venue Development Manager at Craven District Council, said: “Come along to our ‘That’s a Wrap’ Museums at Night event and hear how we plan to pack up our amazing collections. Visitors can find out how to pack fragile objects and you can have a go yourself with our great egg-packing competition.
“We’ll also have staff on hand to answer your questions on the best ways to store your own vintage treasures.”
Museums at Night is a UK-wide festival of late events in museums and galleries, dedicated to shining a light on Britain’s sparkling culture and heritage.
The event is suitable for adults and young people aged 13 and over. Refreshments will be available. Tickets are free, but booking is essential due to limited spaces.
All tickets are available to buy online at www.cravendc.gov.uk/skipton-town-hall or from the Box Office 01756 792809.
