Public Consultation on Draft Conservation Area Appraisals
Craven District Council is launching a public consultation on its Draft Conservation Area Appraisals.
The public consultation runs from Monday October 19 for an eight-week period until Monday December 14, 2020.
All relevant information can be found at www.cravendc.gov.uk/planningpolicyconsultations from October 19.
The Craven Conservation Areas Project 2016 was a partnership between the Council, Historic England and Alan Baxter Ltd., which produced draft appraisals for 16 existing conservation areas and 3 potential new conservation areas in Craven.
All 19 draft appraisals were accepted into the evidence base for the Craven Local Plan, and the Council committed to undertaking public consultation on the draft appraisals at the earliest opportunity following the Local Plan's adoption in November last year. The Council is now pleased to commence that consultation.
The consultation documents include an introduction, appraisals for existing conservation areas at Burton-in-Lonsdale, Carleton, Cononley, Cowling, Eastby, Embsay, Farnhill, Gargrave, Ingleton, Kildwick, Kildwick Grange, Lothersdale, Low Bradley, Settle-Carlisle Railway, Sutton-in-Craven and Thornton-in-Craven; and appraisals for potential new conservation areas at Glusburn, High Bentham and Low Bentham. Each document is concise and easy to read, but in view of the total number of documents involved, the normal consultation period of 4 weeks has been extended to 8 weeks.
All documents are available to download from the Council’s website at www.cravendc.gov.uk/planningpolicyconsultations. As the documents employ an electronic format with interactive maps, paper copies are not available. In order to utilise the interactive maps, people should download the documents onto a computer, tablet or smartphone and view them in a suitable PDF reader.
People may comment on as many of the documents as they wish and should indicate which document and which part of the document they are referring to by using the document’s title, page numbers, section numbers and reference numbers. There are no forms to fill in for this consultation and comments can be sent to The Planning Policy Team by email to localplan@cravendc.gov.uk or by post to Craven District Council, 1 Belle Vue Square, Broughton Road, Skipton, BD23 1FJ.
