Residents urged to give their Homes a HUG this winter
Craven District Council is encouraging residents to apply for their Home Upgrade Grant (HUG) to make their homes warmer and reduce the impact of fuel price rises this winter. The HUG provides grant funded Loft Insulation and Cavity Wall Insulation which will help residents to keep their homes warm and the cold out.
Funding has been secured by Craven District Council from the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) local authority delivery scheme. The funding is available for applicants for a limited time, until the end of January 2022.
The Home Upgrade Grant is delivered in partnership with Better Homes Yorkshire, City of York Council and Heat Insulation Ltd. The scheme aims to improve resident's comfort and reduce energy bills by improving the energy efficiency of homes across the Craven District.
To qualify for the Home Upgrade Grant (HUG), homeowners or private tenants need to have a total household income of less than £30,000 per year or be in receipt of benefits and live in an older property. Properties with an EPC rating of E, F or G and in some cases D qualify. Residents who qualify that do not have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) should make a grant enquiry, and an EPC can be arranged.
Lead member for the environment, Cllr Carl Lis, said: "This is a great opportunity for residents to make their homes warmer and reduce the impact of energy price rises that are now beginning to affect some households.
"I would encourage all eligible residents to visit the Better Homes Yorkshire website and apply as soon as possible as this funding is available for a limited time only.”
